Hi, my name is Dylan McGuirk

A major goal of mine is to utilize my experience to help my advocacy against reckless driving. Around a year ago, I lost my best friend in a drunk-driving accident. Nick and I were ordinary kids whose friendship was built through a shared love for sports, video games, and spending time with friends. Our friendship deepened throughout High School, where we spent countless hours together, doing the things we loved. We had regular conversations about how drunk driving was a line we would never cross, and we didn’t respect other kids who did it. Despite maintaining this mindset, all it took was for us to enter the car of a peer who was under the influence, one moment that we will never get back. My wish is for young people to hear stories like mine, real experiences from normal kids, to rid the normality of reckless driving. I believe in the power of shared experience, which is why I believe in Slow Down and Live. I believe that if people hear our stories, we can prevent such tragedies in the future. Nobody should ever lose somebody they love to reckless driving, which I believe SDL can help achieve by instilling its values through the power of shared experience.
